DoubleSpeak in Great Britain is alive and well–and putting people out of their misery by making sure they’re not "overmedicalised."
Sounds a lot like Hitler’s T-4 plan for the disabled and mentally ill in Germany–deny them food and care until they die–but this is being done under Great Britain’s program called the Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP), sanctioned and operated by the country’s socialized National Health Service.
My, think of all the lovely Pounds Sterling they save by depriving people of care when their taxpaying days are behind them and they’ve become, well, let’s borrow from Hitler again, "useless eaters."
The LCP scheme encourages doctors and other health care staff to consider removing medication, fluids and other treatments that no longer benefit the patient. (How exactly they know if these items are benefitting or not benefitting the patient is anyone’s guess, which makes it pretty easy to play God.)
Anyway, you get the picture–Hitler was right. Just get rid of people when they can’t work and pay taxes.
Read the real-life story of Eric Troake, who has been taken off fluids and medications and now wants to die because he feels so awful (yes, the fluids evidently weren’t benefitting him but he sure felt better before, which isn’t a good enough benefit), in "Daughter claims father wrongly placed on controversial NHS end of life [sic] scheme."
Somewhere, George Orwell must be smiling and cringing at the same time.
